Inhabited since the XII sec. a.C. Veroli has established with Rome a privileged bond, of which preserve important testimonies. Suggestive the suburbs of the middle age of S. Leucio and S. Croce, heart of the historical center and the Romanesque church of S. Erasmo, to whose inside restructured in 700, is found a fresco that recalls the meeting between Alexander III and the Barbarossa. Of the aboriginal construction the three apses stay, two of the three arcades of the portico and the bell tower. In the heart of the city you/they are found, in the courtyard of House Royal, the propitious verolanis, Roman calendar engraved on the marble, discovery in 1926.

In the proximities, the Cathedral of S. Andrea, whose fašade is adorned by an ample rose window of the Romanesque age. To the inside a treasure of big religious historical value is found constituted by a wine glass of gilded silver of big dimensions, a silver cross that contains a part of the Wood of the Cross, two silver crosses, a bust of S. Salome, a head silver shrine of the Saints Giovanni and Paolo.

Particularly interesting it is the church of S. Maria Salome, to whose inside is found the Staircase Saint, that guarantees indulgence to the pilgrims that climb her/it in knee. You/he/she was let build on application of the Bishop Lorenzo Tartagni, and you/he/she is constituted from two side staircases of access and to the center from a gallery with ceiling to chests that it overhangs the staircase constituted by twelve steps in stone.
Further to intelligent acquisitions near his/her artisan shops, above all beaten iron and copper, the city offers the possibility of an episode in mountain and of a dive in the heart of the middle Christian age (abbey of Casamari). It to develop some Christian faith has testified from the recovery of an epigraph of the IV sec. AD and from objects found again in some graves.
